Department Overview
The Unified Communications team has a mission to become the leader in creating a highly scalable software platform and communication applications for first responders and industrial workgroups. Our customers rely on these solutions to run their critical business operations in the public safety, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors. Every single day, we are shaping the future of mobile workgroup solutions for public safety and industrial users worldwide leveraging Motorola’s rich heritage in this space. Our solutions include broadband Push to Talk (PTT), multimedia messaging, location based collaboration, video streaming with full interoperability with land mobile radio (LMR) systems. The products include client apps on Android, iOS, and Windows. Our backend software can be deployed On-Prem, in private data centers, or in a public cloud infrastructure.
Job Description

We are a small Agile team that works like a startup within a big company. Our product is WAVE Tactical (formerly WAVE 5000), an enterprise-grade push-to-talk (PTT) solution that enables interoperable PTT communication across broadband and radio networks and devices so that critical, time-sensitive information flows quickly and securely between mobile workers and teams.

We are seeking a talented and technically strong individual to fulfill a QA Engineer role. You will join our QA team, writing and executing manual and automated tests to ensure the quality of our PTT solution, from the back-end servers to the front-end PC and browser-based clients.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Drive manual and automated testing efforts for Windows Server applications

  • Write clear, maintainable test cases covering functional, regression, and performance tests

  • Participate in design discussions with developers to ensure features are designed and implemented meeting testability requirements

  • Identify, measure, and analyze relevant software quality metrics

  • Work with an Agile team of software development engineers to improve quality throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Self-starter who can work independently and as a member of a team

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with manual or automated software testing

  • 2+ years of experience testing in a Windows Server environment

  • Experience with scripting languages and automated testing tools, including Python, Powershell, Jenkins, Ansible, and/or Selenium

  • Experience with troubleshooting and log analysis tools, including Wireshark and Notepad++

  • Knowledge of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, UDP, and SIP

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience

 Desired Skills

  • Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and services

  • Experience with digital or analog PTT radio systems

  • Knowledge of C#, C++, or Java


Basic Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with manual or automated software testing

  • 2+ years of experience testing in a Windows Server environment
