QA Automation Engineer
Description
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.
What You Do
As a QA Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding requirements, crafting test cases & test plans, and maintaining them. Managing deployment of JAVA based microservices to different environments (both cloud & VMs) will also be needed. Your expertise in System, Functional, Integration, GUI, Regression Testing and UAT will be also be called upon. Along with this, you are also responsible for:
- Supporting team automation activities through Java development and scripting routines, enhancing, and optimizing a custom Java based automation framework Selenium, documenting best practices, mentoring team members, and developing automation and functional test plans.
- Analyze and solve automation/script execution issues and assist team in ongoing automation support and delivery efforts.
- Working closely with the development team, coordinating with them, and performing QA test cycles
- Documenting test results, defects, generating metrics and QA sign off
- Automating and implementing test cases (both Selenium & API testing)
- Accountability for Software Testing Life Cycle and working in an Agile environment.
What You Need
- Degree in Computer Science / Engineering (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of testing experience in both manual and automated.
- 3+ years or like experience with Selenium writing, executing, and debugging automation scripts
- In-depth understanding of QA practices, standards and testing processes and demonstrates expertise in software quality assurance/quality control
- Experience in metrics-based approaches & produce quality metrics
- Ability to read and understand Business Requirements Document, Vehicle Specifications, Architecture and Design documents
- Expertise in designing, writing, maintaining, implementing, and debugging Java automation tests running on top of Selenium.
- Ability to translate Functional and Operational requirements into test cases and scenarios
- Understanding of all aspects of software testing including test environment, test data, and test automation, complete software testing life cycle and Agile methodology
- Ability to perform different levels of testing System, Functional, Integration, GUI, Regression Testing and User Acceptance Test
- Ability to create test plan including defining, estimating, prioritizing and coordinating testing activities
- Ability to Identify Risks and communicate them.
- Skilled at documenting and communicating test results and defects
What Would Be Better
- Advanced Degree in Computer Science / Engineering
- Basic understanding of configuration management tools, automation build systems and continuous integration pipelines
- Experience writing simple SQL queries and insert/update statements, and basic grasp of Oracle or another relational database.
- Experience with SOAPUI/ReadyAPI
- Understanding of REST, KAFKA and SPRING BOOT based applications.
- Collaborate with external organizations and business units to ensure defect-free applications are delivered with quality
- Ability to support production issues - troubleshooting and coordination of timely and effective resolutions following DevOps principles and practices
- Facilitation and Support of user acceptance testing
- Knowledge of basic Unix commands; Unix shell scripting
- General understanding of Over-the-air programming
- Previous over-the-air software update experience with any device or module will be preferred
- Passionate about telematics, over-the-air programming and self-driving technology
