This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.
We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and knowledgeable individual to add to our Electrification Propulsion Validation team! On this team, we contribute to the Zero, Zero, Zero vision by ensuring the design of our propulsion systems meet requirements, and the quality, reliability, and performance exceed customer's expectation. The Propulsion System Validation Engineer is the single point contact for an electrified propulsion. They will lead a team that includes System Validation Engineers (SVEs), Component Validation Engineers (CVEs), and Lead System Validation Engineers (LSVEs) for their assigned programs. A PSVE will need to have oversight of the fully integrated validation plan, support overall optimization that leverages both hardware and analysis to meet program deliverables.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the PT&E planning, program management, development, execution, chief engineers, assistance chief engineers and integration leaders for the propulsion systems as the validation voice
  • Develop strategic action plans to support program validation execution goals and lead those action plans to successful completion
  • Lead a team of SVEs, CVEs, LSVEs, VEs and ensure execution of robust propulsion ADV plans for all applicable programs
  • Works constantly to drive down complexity of ADV plans, reduce hardware when possible and seek opportunities to leverage analysis
  • Provide status at vehicle validation readiness reviews (VTC, VDC)
  • Attend vehicle program dev/val meetings, PVT, VAPIR as required
  • Provide regular status reports and represent validation at powertrain and electrification PET, PAPIR, PSQRR reviews as required, specifically for validation deliverables
  • Co-chair propulsion dev/val meeting
  • Provides validation systems technical expertise to successfully meet program deliverables
  • Review CR/DNs and propulsion planning studies for propulsion system validation impact
  • Provide validation input for propulsion workshare process through various interfaces between Electrification teams and Vehicle Validation team
  • Support SVEs with priority setting for lab testing
  • Coordinate with SVE/LPDE/VPIM/Calibration/Software CVE to evaluate system level validation
  • Participate in resolution of issues
  • Ensure all Certification/Regulation Compliance testing is completed

Additional Description
Basic Required Skills:
  • Minimum 7 years of automotive engineering experience
  • Critical understanding of the technical automotive business, especially in areas of propulsion design and technology, system concepts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GM product engineering organization and processes globally
  • Highly developed project management skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience in development & validation, calibration, or design release in transmission, engine, and/or electric propulsion systems
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred)

Preferred Skills:
  • Advanced degree: MS Eng, MBA or equivalent business background
  • Competencies: Dealing with Ambiguity, Managerial Courage, Drive for Results, Timely Decision Making, Strategic Agility, Customer Focus, Cross-Cultural Sensitivity
  • Understanding of design of experiments, accelerated life testing, reliability and methods
