Job Summary

AECOM is seeking for an experienced Project Engineer for employment in Tyndal AFB, FL.

The position will be part of the construction project management of large, complex projects at Tyndall AFB, FL. This is a multiyear program of expansion and renovation. The selectee will work with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Tyndall AFB Area Office under the direction of a USACE Resident Engineer.

This position will include reviewing and interpreting plans and specifications for completeness, accuracy, and constructability. Interaction with clients and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Records all data in RMS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review submittals, contractor questions, RFIs/RFCs, construction schedules;
  • Analyze contract deficiencies, construction deficiencies, project issues, requests for equitable adjustment, and claims;
  • Make written recommendations to the COR;
  • Compute time extensions;
  • Assist in preparing documents for change orders and claims;
  • Make technical interpretations of drawings and specifications;
  • Provide engineering determinations on meeting the contract requirements;
  • Make practicability determinations from a construction standpoint;
  • Responsible for monitoring contractor conformance to quality, performance, and specifications for assigned construction activities;
  • Keeps Resident Engineer informed of workload and any daily activities;
  • Provides technical expertise to Resident Engineer and/or client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions;
  • Reviews, analyzes and resolves issues;
  • Reviews contractor schedules (Primavera and Gantt chart);
  • Develops, documents, and implements contract modifications;
  • Assists in coordinating project submittals, cost control, scheduling, reporting and document control activities;
  • Develops and tracks project activities relating to cost, specifications, changes, and schedule;
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work;

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 8+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work and move in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions, including heat, dusts, noise, moisture, and dryness.
  • Frequently performing keyboard/mouse operations to document data.
  • This position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing and fall protection.
  • Due to the nature of this work, US citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to drive to support field site construction activities as required.
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the USACE 3 phase quality process is an asset - USACE CQMC certification.
  • Experience on projects in Florida or the surrounding region is an asset.
  • Experience USACE Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • The ability to coordinate and communicate effectively within a high performing, cohesive team environment where projects and clients are geographically dispersed;
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products

  • Due to the nature of this project, US Citizenship is required.
  • Relocation expenses are not available for this position.
  • This position will required a Motor Vehicle Record verification.
