Project Engineer-High Voltage Battery Systems for Military Applications
Description
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-4 x per week.
The Project Engineer-High Voltage Battery Systems Engineer will be involved with the latest battery technology in General Motors electrified vehicles portfolio and will apply that technology to current and future military applications. The Project Lead Engineer of Power Batteries will lead the execution of projects primarily focused on battery design for specific military and non-automotive applications and will lead these project through on-time builds, reviews, gates, milestones and issue resolution. The candidate will also develop systems and systems interface to high voltage electronics, battery controls, and system performance. Candidate will also lead electrification component development as needed for specific applications.
This job is based in General Motor's Warren Technical Center and will work with GM's Global Battery Systems Lab.
Responsibilities:
- Lead/attend product team meetings
- Lead Electrification projects
- Act as the primary electrification contact for external customers
- Support creation of RESS System and subsystem DFMEAs and DRBFMs and ensure no redundancy or missed areas exist between them.
- Ensure documents are up-to-date and stored in GDM
- Ensure system meets functional requirements and timing
- Lead technical resolution
- Provide build/launch/development support
- Interface with the Department of Defense and needed
Additional Description
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- 2+ years of related engineering experience.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to influence others.
- Design, development, validation or release experience.
- Ability to build and present information to leadership, peers, customers and suppliers in a clear and concise manner.
Desired Skills:
- Master's degree
- 5+ years of previous design & release experience (DRE)
- Hands-on experience working in high-voltage laboratory and dynamometer environment.
- Experience with Bills of Design, Statement of Requirements, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Design Reviews.
- Solid understanding of problem resolution, tracking systems and engineering change management processes.
- DFSS certification.
