Job Description

The Arista PS engineer role helps customer deployments through the lifecycle starting with design all the way to implementation and migration and further on to enable operational capabilities. This ensures a seamless transition for customers from initial exposure to being able to operate and realize tangible business outcomes from their network infrastructure.

The Arista PS Engineer also leverages the collective knowledge of the wider Arista Professional Services practice and has direct access to Arista Engineering teams to be able to bring processes, procedures and technical artifacts that will help Arista Customers to design and deploy new infrastructure successfully, and proven methodologies to migrate from legacy vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer landscape to develop technical and business requirements
  • Use the requirements to design the network that best meets the tactical needs of the customer environment.
  • Develop High and Low Level Design documents based on gathered requirements that capture the design criteria and as-built information that can be used as a reference/blue-print for future deployments.
  • Implementation and migration planning and support
  • Develop and execute test plans for the purpose of validating newly deployed Arista networks and to certify that the network is ready to carry production traffic.
  • Work with customers to plan, write, and execute Methods of Procedure documents outlining steps to seamlessly migrate production network traffic from legacy infrastructure to the newly deployed Arista Network Fabric.
  • Perform Knowledge Transfer Training on Arista network designs, platforms, and features to Arista Professional Services customers.
  • Ongoing operational support to the customer 
  • Develop professional relationships with customers by being a trusted advisor and working collaboratively to deploy and operate the Arista solutions effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist Project Management in developing project plans to track deployment project task execution and timelines and to establish communication cadence with customers.

Qualifications

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Specialize in Design and Deployment of Industry Leading Networking Solutions.
  • 6+ years of industry experience focused on IP networks
  • 5+ years of working experience with network technologies including network design and deployments of Campus and Data Center networks. Knowledge of leaf-spine architecture is highly desired.
  • Ability to develop accurate and meaningful requirements.
  • Datacenter infrastructure high level and low level design experience.
  • Advanced network protocol knowledge
  • Ability to lead and deliver network engineering projects including greenfield implementations, complex migrations and integration efforts.
  • Experience working with all levels of the business from the engineering deck to the executive suite.
  • Experience delivering technical and operational training to customers
  • Ability to work independently, prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • A computer science (or similar) degree
  • CCIE and/or JNCIE certifications/ equivalents, security certifications such as CISSP/equivalents

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical expertise in design, configuration and operation of routers and switches in data center, core, access, campus, and general network environments.
  • Network operating systems including Arista EOS, Cisco IOS and/or other major network operating systems.
  • Expert knowledge in the following areas: Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, VxLAN, EVPN, IPRouting, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, Multicast, QoS
  • Expert level knowledge of industry-standard CLI
  • Extensive experience in fault isolation, troubleshooting logic and techniques.
  • Operation of network management protocols, tools and software.
  • Arista CloudVision experience is highly desirable
  • Use of network analyzers, traffic generators, simulators, testing and troubleshooting tools such as Ixia, tcpdump, wireshark etc.,
  • Linux operating system knowledge.
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as C++, Java, Python, Perl, JavaScript, shell, and automation frameworks typically used for operational automation such as Ansible, etc.,
