Summary:

In this position, you will be joining the Product Engineering Group. This position will assist in process monitoring, data analysis, process integration and yield enhancement of Wolfspeed's GaN HEMT product manufacturing in both Fab and Test, Dice, Inspect areas. Wolfspeed is growing rapidly and we need engineers to help us ramp our production line. This position is based in Durham, NC.

What can you do for Wolfspeed?
  • Support qualifications and process changes with data analysis, review, and approval.
  • Provide device expertise and guidance when interacting with process engineering teams including Epi, Fab, and post fab processing teams.
  • Interact with internal and external customers with integrated challenges.
  • Coordinate with assembly and reliability teams for qualification of process changes and MRB material.
  • Identify and drive improvements in manufacturability, yield, performance, and reliability in our GaN devices.
  • Aid the manufacturing line with out-of-spec hold lot disposition.
  • Work closely with yield engineering to drive improvement projects.
  • Ramp new products and processes released from R&D, monitoring performance and driving improvement projects.
  • Set up new part numbers in the manufacturing systems.
  • Work with marketing, applications, and quality teams to improve products based on customer feedback.
  • Document manufacturing process flow updates, FMEAs, control plans, inspection requirements, and experimental split lot instructions.
  • Routinely review product performance through periodic chart review.
  • Mentor, coach and train junior engineers and process technicians.
  • Work alongside operations and process engineering inside the cleanroom.


What you need for success:
  • This position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Product or Process engineering experience in a production semiconductor environment.
  • Extensive experience with statistical data analysis of both large and small data sets.
  • Able and willing to support 24/7 projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exhibit an open, positive, professional, energetic, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast moving, evolving environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership skills to successfully drive small teams and projects.


Highly preferred skills and certifications:
  • Knowledge of RF semiconductor devices and the underlying semiconductor device physics
  • Demonstrated understanding of semiconductor device manufacturing including ion implantation, diffusion, photolithography, wet and dry etch, wafer thinning, and thin film deposition.
  • Understanding of characterization and failure analysis techniques (FIB, STEM, SIMS, EDS, et cetera).
  • Effective when executing multiple technical tasks
  • Familiarity with ANOVA, DOE principles, SPC techniques, JMP software, JMP scripting, Klarity, SQL, or similar engineering software and techniques.
  • Experience in process integration or process development in a semiconductor fab.
  • Familiarity with the implementation of automated defect metrology for driving yield improvements.
  • Experience from incoming or subsequent processes including RF test, GaN epi, or packaging.
  • Scripting or programming language proficiency
