Honeywell Aerospace currently has an open Product Development Quality Assurance Engineer position. This position will be responsible for performing Systems and Software engineering development quality/process assurance work at our Phoenix Deer Valley facility, reporting to the Product Development Quality Assurance Manager. This position will act as the advocate in assuring product development processes are capable and effective, ensuring artifacts are in place as evidence to support execution of those processes, and appropriate product development activities are planned, documented and executed to satisfy the regulatory, customer requirements and designated internal requirements.

The position works closely with Program Management, Software & Hardware Engineering, Systems/Applications Engineering, Configuration Management, and Document Control/Data Services. The position also has a close relationship with Certification and Airworthiness Representatives, ODA Unit Members, and Engineering Process Groups. The position frequently interacts with the Regulatory Authorities and Customers.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Conduct design/development audits on work performed at Deer Valley and internal/external supplier sites
  • Participate in specific development activities throughout the product's entire life cycle from conceptual through production to assure process compliance and efficiency.
  • Assess engineering activities, reporting and tracking of non-conformances as they pertain to DO-178B, DO-278, DO-254, ARP-4754A and AS9100/AS9006/AS9115.
  • Provide assurance that systems, software, and/or hardware engineering activities comply with defined procedures.
  • Interface with and supporting the customer and regulatory agencies during product and site level assessments.
  • Providing feedback and guidance to engineering teams and project management regarding overall design and development compliance.
  • Maintaining quality metrics to assess engineering process effectiveness and working with the PDQA team to improve engineering procedures.
  • Coordinate with other Aerospace sites to share best practices.
  • Serve as a member of the Deer Valley product development teams and regularly communicate with program managers, lead engineers, and program personnel.
  • Ensure supplier QA organizations are aligned with Honeywell and customer requirements and expectations.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident due to ITAR regulations
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering quality assurance for airborne avionics products or related field.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor degree in a field directly related to Aerospace, Systems, Software, or Hardware engineering, e.g., Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Software Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degrees in engineering, math, and relevant natural sciences (e.g., Physics and Space) also a plus.
  • Working knowledge of DO-178B, DO-278, DO-254, ARP-4754A, AS9100, and AS9006/AS9115, a plus
  • Experience in Honeywell's engineering development practices used by Displays and Flight Management System, for Air Transport Level Aircraft, i.e. Boeing and Airbus a plus
  • Experience with Epic and/or Epic Applications development practices, a plus
  • Experience with Honeywell's Legacy Business and General Avionics products, a plus
  • Experience with Honeywell's Radios and RTA-50 Products, a plus
  • Experience with a variety of configuration management and defect tracking tools such as ACM, PVCS, Clearcase/Clearquest, and DOORs
  • Working knowledge of embedded operating systems software used in avionics products, a plus
  • Self-starter/independent worker that demonstrates initiative and sound judgment and has the ability to manage and coordinate their work with groups outside the department
  • Strong Analytical and Problem Solving skills
  • Strong Communication skills and presentation skills
  • Strong Computer and Web Navigation skills (MS Explorer/Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
