Overview

The primary purpose of this role for is for the Principal Systems Engineer to help service a clinically focused customer base. The Principal Systems Engineer will support critical patient care systems by providing implementation and configuration of VMWare, Citrix, and SQL environments, as well as Windows system administration, and project based billable work, communicating with a defined customer base and assist addressing proactive and reactive needs.

This is a Remote role.

Responsibilities

• Design and build complete Citrix environments based on Customer needs and applications
• Assist with fixing issues at OS and DB level along with backup, restore, recovery, as well as performance turning and analysis
• Provides full Lifecycle management of SQL Server implementations in a clustered/replicated/virtualized environment
• Maintains database architectures and strategies to ensure performance, availability, integrity and security of client databases
• Supports database definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements, operational guidelines
• Monitors and improve database performance and capacity utilization to provide high database availability and redundancy
• Plans and executes future expansion requirements including installation, testing, upgrades and patches when needed
• Manages system issues, upgrades, performance tuning and backup/recovery
• Installs, configures, upgrades, and manages SQL Server
• Design and build complete VMWare environments based on Customer needs and Application requirements
• Supports multiple customers, servers, and projects assigned
• Prioritizes competing demands effectively
• Follows established change management processes
• Communicate directly with C-level executives and hospital staff to explain complex issues and resolutions.

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

• 4-Year Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience with operating system implementation, administration, support, maintenance of SQL Server and Windows Server.
• SQL experience should include reindexing, server rebuild and maintenance.
• Experience in fixing complex issues at OS and DB level along with backup, restore and recovery, as well as performance tuning and analysis is required.
• The successful candidate should be familiar with the process to escalate system issues to Microsoft.
• 10+ years of experience designing, building, assessing, and/or managing complex Citrix environments
• 10+ years of experience designing, building, assessing, and/or managing complex VMWare environments
• PowerShell scripting and Automation
• Project Management - Manage assigned project and complete to success.
• Mentor and Training - Lead training and mentoring to peers and other support team members.

Required Skills:

• SQL Server Implementation, Administration and Support (SQL2012 and newer)
• Windows System Implementation, Administration, and Support (Server 2012 and newer)
• Must be able to work overnight when needed and non-traditional work hours
• Must have strong team focus, customer service, work ethic and excellent communication skills
• Experience in a 24x7, highly available, Windows/SQL environment
• Hardware (HW) configuration experience a plus
• Familiarity with SAN environments a plus- multipathing, LUN sizing, HBA Cards and Drivers as examples
• Experience working with 3rd party vendors such as EMC and VMWare to open and troubleshoot issues a plus
• VMWare 6.x or later - The ability to configure / install / troubleshoot
• Citrix 6.5 or later - The ability to configure / install / troubleshoot

Additional Skills Preferred but not required:

• Disaster Recovery experience - backup recovery, scheduling and configuring SQL backups to disk
• Experience supporting a hospital a plus
• Experience with Altera and 3 rd Party Vendors - PARAGON, STAR, Touchworks, Sunrise, Performance Manager, and OneContent

Travel Requirements:

• Depends upon the project/program needs
