Job Description

As the Principal System Architect, you are an instrumental part of our Enterprise Architecture team which exists to support the technical needs of our products and business. We care deeply about our environments and delivery pipelines being simple, reliable, consistent, and fast. You'll be successful in this role if you have a deep love for automation, building scalable systems, embracing new technology, and sharing with teammates. As the Architect, you are a key strategist and resident expert for our technical operations.

The Principal System Architect reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Architecture.

You will also: 

• Design and drive the technical vision for our core infrastructure
• Work with TechOps teams to identify repetitive tasks and automate them
• Make it painless for product teams to develop, test, deploy and monitor by providing clear, documented frameworks around our operational systems
• Oversee the execution of our disaster recovery plans; ensuring they are up-to-date and ready when needed
• Mentor team members as a subject-matter expert
• Advise senior leadership on technical strategy directions
• Research new technology and vendors
• Consult with the information security team to make sure we are putting in best practices to achieve our compliance/security goals
• Work with the team on vendor contract negotiations. Help with reviewing and advising on cloud/hosting spend.

Qualifications

• Ten (10+) years of related work experience
• Experience managing and working with AWS and Azure services including multi-account configurations
• Experience working on and designing VMWare based virtual infrastructures
• Experience with core network and routing protocols and services
• Experience working in multiple computer languages, particularly Python, PHP, Shell, PowerShell and C#
• Knowledge of datacenter configuration, networking, secure practices, compliance, infrastructure hardware, cloud environment, containerized solutions, high availability best practices, business continuity, disaster recovery, financial practices around hosting/compliance/software, devops practices, software engineering, and database administration
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic supervisory and leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Bonus points for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or other related field
• Experience with distributed system concepts and design
• Experience with data archival technologies and services
• Experience writing and debugging code pipelines
• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Solution Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), VCP-DCV: VMware Certified Professional 6 - Data Center Virtualization, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
