Department OverviewThe Global Digital Signal Processing Software department is responsible for architecting, designing and developing real-time software for digital communications and audio for Motorola Solutions worldwide portfolio two-way radio products.
The team is responsible for delivering Audio and RF Signal Processing Software and has ownership of all Applications Processor DSP subsystems, including Audio Management.
Job Description
This position is responsible for the software architecture and design of audio solutions for MSI Land Mobile Radio (LMR) products including ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for Federal, State and local government agencies requiring highly secure, easily managed, mission critical solutions.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in Android Audio Framework and Audio HAL development.
Experience with Qualcomm Audio & aDSP solutions.
Domain knowledge and experience of Android audio system including Android media application framework, media native framework, media server and audio HAL Experience of Android native framework feature development with Android NDK
Experienced in Audio Configuration in Kernel Device Trees
Your responsibilities will range from requirements gathering, architecture, driving solutions, design, deploy, maintain and enhance Audio solutions.
Consult with Product Management teams to set strategy, direction and costing
Lead and define Audio Software Architecture for MSI Land Mobile Radio (LMR) products
Create and document audio topology details.
Continually evaluate third party vendor solutions used in our portfolio.
Lead the engineering community in best practices for Software design.
Lead development capabilities, ability to guide & mentor other engineers
High ownership, self-sufficient, hands-on leader to drive quality and maintain solution stability
Ability to deliver multiple simultaneous projects on time
Able to brainstorm and communicate technology decisions and issues with peers and management
Strong ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies in a short time
Able to work effectively in a distributed team environment
Additional Requirements:
Relevant experience in embedded Android audio framework/Audio Manager/Audio drivers/Audio Policy, Audioflinger is a plus
C, C++ and Java expertise
Experience with Android SDK
Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
Experience with DSP or ARM-based microprocessor architectures.
Academic grounding in DSP and Digital communications a plus.
Performance analysis and audio tuning experience including memory usage, CPU utilization, leak checking
Experience with wireless device to device communication standards (Bluetooth, BLE, NFC, WiFi, ProSe) is a plus.
Experience/knowledge in software development tools (e.g. GIT, JIRA…), testing, process (Agile, Kanban) and configuration management..
Strong written and oral communication skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required OR MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related
- 5+ years in Android development and/or engineering
