Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a member of the LN-200 engineering team, you will support manufacturing operations to produce precision, high-quality, fiber optic gyroscope based, inertial measurement systems.

Manufacturing Engineering roles and responsibilities include the following:

• Frequent interaction with production operators to understand and troubleshoot manufacturing issues or gather inputs on process improvement suggestions
• Creating process flow diagrams and defining the sequence of operations for build instructions
• Leading investigations of production issues to determine root causes and coordinate cross-functional team actions to address material deficiencies, equipment malfunctions and assembly process errors
• Providing manufacturing representation and technical inputs for supplier capability assessments
• Assessing return on investment and developing and improving manufacturing processes
• Utilizing statistical process control and data driven methods to guide process, yield, and cost improvements
• Performing critical evaluations of new designs and influencing design and materials engineering decisions to ensure manufacturability

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal or Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer (ME) level.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications below.

Typical Minimum Education / Experience Principal Manufacturing Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelor of Science; 3 with Masters; 0 Years with PhD Degree in engineering or other STEM related discipline

Typical Minimum Education / Experience Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelor of Science; 7 with Masters; 4 Years with PhD Degree in engineering or other STEM related discipline

Basic Qualifications for both levels:

• Experience working in a technical or manufacturing related field
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project)
• Able to collaborate in a team environment and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints
• Able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result
• Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously
• US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

• Experience providing direct engineering support for electro-mechanical assembly equipment and processes
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry with strict customer/process requirements
• Experience in defense or related industry
• SAP experience
• Lean/6-sigma training
• Solid modeling design skills
• Strong project management skills (work breakdown, task planning, scheduling, performance-to-plan tracking)

MANUMS

Salary Range: $79,700.00 - $119,500.00Salary Range 2: $98,700.00 - $148,100.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to basepay.
