As a Principal Software Systems Engineer, you will be a technical leader for developing requirements for integrated diabetes management solutions for helping people living with diabetes using multiple daily insulin injection therapy. You will work with marketing and R&D product managers to architect the requirements for new features and systems, work through the risk management process to design in safety, work with software architects to break down responsibilities for various software components and work with designers to design user experiences that meet the requirements and ease the burden of diabetes management. You will work with cybersecurity engineers to ensure the security of the system is robust and incorporate security requirements into the system.

You will work with the compliance team to ensure our risk management and design and development processes meet all applicable regulations, and update any documents as needed.

You will work with the technical teams to identify areas of technical risk and ensure that sufficient de-risking activities are on-going so that development programs meet the intended scope and schedule.

A Day in the Life

 

  • Work with clinical product managers to understand and document user needs.
  • Work cross functionally to evaluate options to meet the user needs and select the method that is safe, effective and lowers the burden of daily diabetes management.
  • Evaluate and document risks associated with the new feature and develop and document risk mitigations to increase safety of the system in the risk management file.
  • Work with software architects to define responsibility of various components of the system for the feature.
  • Document requirements of new features in requirements specifications.
  • Work with designers through the design process to translate the requirements into design and document the designs in a software design specification.
  • Interface with the software development teams to answer questions, address requirement, design or risk gaps uncovered during implementation.
  • Interface with the software test group for the development of test cases against the requirements and design.
  • Review the delivery and ensure the finished product meets the user needs and requirements.
  • Establishes the architecture for a technology group to allow for future iteration and feature expansion.

  • Documenting software requirements
  • Working with designers to develop designs to meet user needs and software requirements
  • Working with software development teams during implementation
  • Working with software test team during test case development
  • Reviewing completed work and assessing work against user needs, requirements and designs

 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelors' degree in engineering or sciences with 7+ years of experience or Masters' degree in engineering or sciences with 5+ years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience in medical device software development or similar regulated industry
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in developing documentation / clear requirements
  • Understanding of diabetes management, glucose monitoring and insulin delivery
  • Experience in developing launching app-cloud systems
  • Experience in leading development of distributed systems
