Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RIS) is looking for a Principal Site Reliability Software Engineer (SRE) to oversee operations of our custom cloud platform that hosts creative resources. These resources allow scientists and students alike to discover, transform, update and improve the quality of Earth Science data in the pursuit of solving a wide range of environmental and socio-economic issues.
Job Responsibilities:
• As a member of the team you will participate in the design, development, operations, and automation of the next generation cloud-based platform
• Provide prioritized recommendations to agile train and team stakeholders on methods to improve performance and reliability of platform systems and processes
• Produce cyber security and cloud financial impact assessment for existing platform services and recommended improvements
• Maintain a extensive understanding of custom platform service offerings, supported use-cases, available capacity and forecasted utilization
• Support development of near-real-time reporting functionality for system and sub-component health, performance, capacity, uptime, and compliance
• Promote software development practices aligned with highly scalable and highly available systems among agile development teams
• Work towards establishing Service Level Agreements and measurement methods and support performance engineering efforts

Security Clearance:
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Required Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of application hosting, with experience using Cloud Services in an Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) or Platform as Service (PAAS) environment
• In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), including networking and serverless services such as Lambda and Step Functions
• Experience programming / scripting experience in C++, BASH, Python, Java and Java script particularly within an Agile development environment
• Experience with data monitoring, analytics, and AIOps processes and resources
• Experience implementing automated test systems to improve system quality
• Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructures and operations using DevOps automation resources such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform. Focus on high availability of hardware, data replication, and provide real-time recovery in failure situations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good experience in preparing IT technical documents and communicating technical information to end-users. Energetic, self-motivated, team player that is comfortable using collaboration and open communications
• Quarterly travel for a few days may be required as COVID restrictions are lifted
Desired Skills:
• Experience with full life cycle Software design and development experience on large/complex n-tier client/server applications
• Familiarity with data analytic methods for identifying and resolving technical issues
• AWS Solutions Architect and/or Developer Certification
Required Education Experience:
Typically requires 8 years of relevant experience with a BS degree; or 5 years of relevant experience with a MS degree
