Principal Software Engineer- SDET
The Principal Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) applies practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop and implement Quality Assurance and Test Automation frameworks & processes to raise the quality bar of distributed systems at scale, with a high focus on performance, load, stability, and security testing. We are seeking an individual who has built a Quality Assurance culture in other environments.
The Principal Software Engineer is the main coordinator and mentor for all Quality Assurance and Test Automation activities across the Media Distribution's software engineering teams, reporting to the Executive Director, Software Engineering.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ownership of Quality Assurance and Test Automation Frameworks, Processes, and Roadmap
- Evangelist and Mentor for Quality Assurance across the engineering teams.
- Own end-to-end test strategy, analyze requirements, build test plans, design test cases and implement test automation with a focus on performance, load, and stability/resilience
- Define best practices for Quality Assurance and Test Automation, including test plans/cases reviews and test results reviews.
- Enhance Release Management process
- Ensure proper tracking and accurate reporting of test coverage, test execution and quality metrics
- Ensure all areas of concerns are covered in test coverage (functional, stability, safety, resilience, performance, load at scale, security, etc.)
- Active stakeholder in project planning and execution of quality strategy for all Media Distribution projects and initiatives.
- Mentor engineering teams in the area of Quality Assurance and Test Automation
- Main interlocutor for cross-functional test campaigns
- Ownership of Lab Infrastructure (potentially with a direct report dedicated to perf/stability and lab)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Test Automation, preferably for distributed systems at large scale.
- Strong knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks
- Strong experience and thought leader in Quality Assurance and testing best practices, with prior experience building a SDET function in another environment
- Ability to interact with developers and technology managers at a technical level
- Ability to interact with Director and above with proper executive level reporting
- Must be able to work with a geographically dispersed team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative and fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior CDN experience
- Prior experience working with and contributing to open source software

The hiring range for this remote position is $156,374 to $209,770 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered. Salaried exempt and non-exempt in multiple U.S. locations and at least one includes a place that requires hiring range disclosure in posting.
