Position Summary:
The principal software engineer's responsibilities include architecture/design, recommending adjustments to resolve software issues, improving the functionality of existing software, and ensuring that the design, application, and maintenance of software meets the quality standards of the company. You should also be able to mentor, guide, and train other engineers.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S., preferably in Minnesota as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designing, coding, and debugging software
  • Improving the performance of existing software
  • Providing training to other engineers
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing software
  • Recommending new technologies that can help increase productivity
  • Supervising and overseeing the technical aspects of projects
  • Investigating software-related complaints and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal software performance
  • Regularly attending team meetings to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to any issues

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as Software Engineer and/or Architect
  • Advanced experience in C#, ASP.Net, .Net Core, Java Script framework(s) and SQL
  • Demonstrated solid analytical skills
  • Proven solid architect/design skills
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proven experience in software development methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience building complex web systems


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering/computer science or related field
  • Web services/SOA development experience
  • Angular development experience
  • Mobile application development experience
  • Web design experience
  • Agile/Scrum participation

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
