Principal Software Engineer, SaaS

Built from the ground up on a microservices, multi-tenant architecture, our goal is to ensure customers canprovision with confidence, protect at scale, and comply with certainty.
As a Principal Software Engineer you will be a key member of our engineering team, supporting the overall design and development of our flagship product, IdentityNow. You are a well-rounded backend or full stack engineer who is immensely passionate about building and delivering reliable, scalable microservices and infrastructure for SaaS products. You enjoy technical leadership, technical design and solving complex challenges as much as you enjoy getting your hands into the code.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and refine requirements with Product Management
- Significant hands-on software development, designing, coding, building software to scale team's services
- Setting the standard for excellence in engineering by advocating design and coding best practices
- Looking beyond the immediate backlog to create and share a forward thinking technical vision for your team
- Share support of critical team systems by participating in on-call rotations
- Occasionally partner with Services to review and contribute to solution architecture
Requirements:
- 10+ years of overall professional software development experience
- 5+ years of experience developing software in Java, leading teams, design and setting technical direction
- Deep understanding of modern technologies and paradigms and are excited to learn new ones (e.g. Golang, Docker, Redis, Postgres, GraphQl, Python, Kafka, Terraform, Timescale, AWS)
- Experience leading a team on a redesign or creation of new major features at scale
- Experience building and running scalable and reliable systems
- Experience decomposing monoliths and moving to distributed systems
- Product minded: You can turn complex business requirements into working software that our customers love to use.
- A positive and collaborative demeanor, combined with the ability to coach, mentor and delegate
- Superior communication skills
- Life-long learner- you stay up to date with technology trends, spend time learning new technologies, and share your leanings with your team.
