At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or offsites.​

As a Principal Engineer for GoDaddy.com, you will help entrepreneurs discover everything they need to build a successful online venture. The right candidate for this role combines proficient technical skills to craft innovative solutions with a passion for building easy to use web products that customers love.

What you'll get to do...

As a director-level Principal Engineer for GoDaddy.com, you will work cross-functionally with multiple teams across our site and the company, setting the technical vision for the most visited pages and critical portions of our core site, translating vague problems into innovative technical possibilities, and experimenting your way toward success. You will use your experience with modern cloud, full stack JavaScript coding, and UI frameworks to build products that improve every step of our customers experience. You lean on your passion for technology to suggest and make improvements to our tech stack and infrastructure and contribute to 1-3 year technology plans and bring together people from disparate teams to join you in realizing the vision.

You will develop talent around you, by influencing and coaching other individual contributors. The ideal candidate would also be open to managing directly. Your influence will extend outside of your organization to deliver results that move the needle.

Your experience should include...

• 12+ years’ experience with software development. 6+ in front-end development, responsive web design, and scalable architecture.
• 3+ years with people management, mentoring, and team building.
• Experience delivering high scale production web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. NextJs, React, NodeJS, etc.) across technology stacks.
• Demonstrated experience upgrading and improving CI/CD processes, especially with GitHub and Jenkins
• Experience working with a “squad” model of engineering, with a dedicated product peer, and designer.
• Web-based large-scale E-commerce experience in geo-distributed, localized environments
• Demonstrated love and advocacy of automated testing
• Customer focused with willingness to roll up your sleeves to ensure the best experience and outcome for them.
• Ability to navigate a constantly evolving landscape, while balancing multiple responsibilitie
• Experience with Object Oriented programming (e.g. .NET, Java, or other)
• Strong Business sense and technical vision and a willingness to be express and discuss your ideas

You might also have...

• Experience integrating with and extending Content Management Systems (CMS) to power highly visited public websites
• Experience managing or contributing to open source (Send us a link to your GitHub!)
• Expertise building accessible websites
