Who you are:
We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer, Backend to be responsible for designing and building the next generation Content Acquisition Platform based upon a microservice architecture, leveraging object-oriented programming languages (such as Java and Scala), real-time messaging systems (such as Kafka), and SQL & NoSQL data stores (such as MySQL, Elasticsearch). Utilize cloud computing platforms such as AWS-along with its relevant tools and processes such as S3, Lambda, SQS-and modern DevOps tooling such as docker, ELK stack, ECS. Utilize agile software development methodologies to maintain a high standard of code, employing tools such as Git, JIRA, and Confluence. Implement and promote software engineering best-practices such as unit & integration testing.
Required Skills & Experience:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8 years of related experience.
  • Must also have each of the following:
    • 5 years of experience with Java, Scala and 1 year utilizing Go, Node.js, and Javascript;
    • 1 year of experience with DevOps tooling, including Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, Pagerduty, and ELK stack;
    • 1 year of experience utilizing agile software development methodologies using Git, JIRA, and Confluence;
    • 1 year of experience working with AWS services including S3, SQS, Kinesis, ElastiCache, Lambda, KMS, and EMR;
    • 3 years of experience utilizing Akka and Kafka;
    • 3 years of experience utilizing RDBMS including MySQL and 1 year of experience utilizing NoSQL DB including ElasticSearch, Redis, Couchbase, Cassandra; and
    • 2 years of experience utilizing Microservice Architecture.

California, New York and Colorado only: The salary range for this position is as indicated below. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience, among other factors.
Colorado/New York/California: $200,000 to $220,000 USD/year
