Sentara is currently hiring a Principal Software Architect; this is a Full-Time position with day shift hours and great benefits! This position is available for remote work from the following states: Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Nevada Washington, and Indiana.

The Software Architect's role is to design best practice custom software solutions including end user applications, APIs, business logic and data integration solutions and data repositories.

Responsibilities:

  • They are also responsible for working with department leadership to create standards for coding practices, tools and frameworks for other software developers or designers to deliver efficient software solutions.
  • The Software Architect must always ensure the efficacy of the designs and standards of the department and stay up to date with the latest developments in their fields.
  • They are expected to design and recommend programs, procedures, and processes to ensure the software is functioning well in all aspects, and in compliance with security policies.
  • The architect serves as both a mentor and a trainer for other IT staff in areas of configuration or development of software as well as the expert in how multiple systems and platforms work or may work together.



Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of related experience in IT in lieu of education.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a software development leadership role.
  • This is an expert position and a deep understanding of SDLC/ALM concepts and wide array of technology concepts appropriate for the department is required. Expert knowledge in software development based on area of expertise is required. Examples include mobile development (Swift, Java, Cordova), server-side web development (.NET, PHP, NodeJS, IIS, Apache), front-end web frameworks (Agular, React), API architectures, CI/CD concepts, SAAS, PAAS and IAAS technologies, and modern relational, NoSQL and in-memory databases.
  • Cloud Technology experience preferred
  • Active Directory knowledge preferred.
