As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be part of a Mobile App Engineering team passionate about building iOS Apps that power Nike's business. In this role, you are a critical influencer providing thought-leadership on technical directions and a key contributor to new platforms that support key initiatives. You are also a mentor to other developers, both directly and via your daily actions. Strong communication, ability to influence, tackle sophisticated problems, and leadership ability while being a team player is a must!
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON?
You will help build and deliver modern iOS Apps and frameworks that enable our Sports Activity business.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
You will directly partner with the Engineering Directors, Product Directors, and engineering teams to ensure we delivery top quality iOS Applications and frameworks that integrate with our Activity Platform Services to unlock value for Nike's customers.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
Must demonstrate high proficiency in:

  • The Swift language
  • iOS Application architecture
  • Object-oriented programming
  • Memory Management and Multi-threading
  • Databases and other system data stores
  • Integration with RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Code versioning tools, especially Git
  • Objective-C language
  • The iOS runtime, both pre and post-ARC
  • Xcode IDE and OS X development tool-chain
  • Computer science data structures and algorithms
  • Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices
  • Excellent analytical skills, and written and verbal communication
  • Highly passionate about delivery, being comfortable with both providing technical direction as well as being a contributing member of the team
  • Ability to be strategic as well as going deep on complex technical problems

Responsibilities

  • Develop high quality features on iOS and watchOS
  • Architect modular development patterns and research new technologies on iOS
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Collaborate with team to define, design, and ship new features
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve application performance and code stability
  • Help maintain code quality and organization
  • Adopt and evangelize standard methodologies across the organization
  • Mentor other engineers on the team
  • Contribute to the Nike iOS shared architecture and modules
  • Develop and improve iOS coding guidelines
  • Assist with Sprint planning and organization

Should also have:

  • A good sense of UI design and consumer focus
  • Experience with automated testing and unit tests
  • Understanding of Apple's design principles and interface guidelines
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Experience publishing production apps to the Apple App Store


Open to remote work, except cannot work in South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. These candidates will be required to relocate.

For employees based in Colorado, this position starts at $163,000 per year. Information about benefits can be found here .
