Cox Automotive Enterprise Technology is looking for a Principal Infrastructure DevOps Architect to lead our Infrastructure Automation initiative that will transform the way Cox Automotive plans, delivers and manages infrastructure in our strategic on-premises datacenters. The Principal Infrastructure DevOps Architect is a leader with an established record of DevOps organizational transformation and has technical depth across the full spectrum of DevOps industry standards. The person in this role will serve as the thought leader driving the DevOps vision for the organization and evangelizing the adoption of standards and best practices. The Principal Infrastructure DevOps Architect will analyze, document, and promote standards and design patterns that represent the established enterprise architectural goals, as well as collaborate with solution architects and engineering teams in implementing configuration and infrastructure management solutions. Individuals in this role are also responsible for researching, demonstrating, and providing guidance on emerging technologies and industry trends as well as maintaining expert knowledge of internal and external-facing systems. To be successful in this role one must have a comprehensive and deep understanding of all technology layers in the infrastructure stack, including, low/high level transport protocols, network, compute, virtualization, DAS/NAS/SAN storage, monitoring, and security. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment and to serve as a trusted partner and internal consultant to associates across other organizations. This role requires strong communication skills with engineering team members, operations support staff and business contacts.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Define and maintain the future state DevOps architecture blueprint and roadmap.
  • Establish and document the current IT DevOps portfolio, standards, and procedures according to industry best practices.
  • Partner with key stakeholders in Operations and Engineering to advance towards the established future vision blueprint.
  • Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
  • Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
  • Serve as a thought leader and SME for DevOps industry trends, new and existing technology offerings, and architectural concepts.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and the evolution of current technologies to define a future vision roadmap for the optimal application of technology to meet business needs
  • Produce appropriate design artifacts representing desired changes in technical architecture.
  • Address system quality attributes relating to infrastructure management, such as efficiency or availability, and recommend solutions.
  • Contribute to high-level estimates in support of business case development.
  • Define and document architecture principles, standards, and best practices. Ensure their adoption and usage.
  • Serve as technical point interface for infrastructure platform vendors, reviewing designs with the vendors where appropriate and driving improved service from these vendors where needed.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted technical advisor with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other responsibilities as required to support the company's growth.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12+ years' experience in the implementation of structured design and architecture processes in a corporate environment.
  • 12+ years' experience in software development or application engineering in languages such as Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object-oriented language
  • 8+ years' experience in an enterprise architect function.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code, using Terraform, Ansible, or other tools.
  • Experience architecting CI/CD workflows and tools, such as Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, and/or GitLab
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Evidenced by the ability to communicate across all levels of an organization.
  • Effective use of communication tools/methods such as PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer Science or Engineering background
  • Demonstrated success as a software developer, application architect, or consultant working with various platforms
  • Experience with Configuration Management platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Salt).
  • Experience working directly with customers, partners or third-party developers.
  • Participant in speaking engagements, published work, published blogs, and/or acquired patents, demonstrating industry notoriety.


REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technical Field, or 15+ years of professional equivalent experience
