This position will be part of the Enterprise Information Security (EIS) group, supporting the OptumHealth segment, which provides care directly through local medical groups and ambulatory care systems, including primary, specialty, urgent and surgical care. The role will require an in-depth understanding of technology and technical concepts, coupled with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical customers to solve business problems while increasing the security posture of clinical environments and technology without impact on patient care.
Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for security tool sets
  • Work with Optum Care secuirty teams to implement new software, policy configurations & settings
  • Evaluate and recommend security controls and tooling for on-premises and cloud infrastructure
  • Develop innovative approaches and solves complex problems
  • Liaise with Business and IT Groups in the security analysis, design and planning phases of IT and business-related projects
  • Create and maintain new and existing playbooks/runbooks, work with multi-functional team members to maintain high-quality work standards
  • Evaluate vulnerabilities that exist and make recommendations for remediation
  • Ensure day-to-day operational tasks are performed and security metrics are relevant and current
  • Maintain expertise in the area of Information Security, including industry trends, strategies, vulnerabilities and threats to ensure the company's assets are effectively and appropriately secured.
  • Participate in security incident response processes on a per-occurrence basis
  • Participate in an on-call support on a rotational basis
  • Work with the Optum Care Teams towards a common goal of lowering the information security risk profile of Optum Care
  • Being the liaison between information security and other business units
  • Mentor Optum Care staff on information security risk, and providing guidance where applicable
  • Develop information security best practices for various organizations, with special needs in application security, cloud security and disaster recovery
  • Monitor the organization's networks and work with 3rd parties to analyze non-standard traffic and changes, and respond to security breaches and incidents
  • Install and configure security software. This includes, but is not limited to firewalls, network devices, device control, application control, patch management, vulnerability scanning, monitoring applications (network and host-based), system backup and recovery/disaster recovery and antivirus
  • Report on information security metrics including but not limited to vulnerabilities, viruses, unique traffic and resource usage, security software adherence and asset management


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with cyber security standards/organizations (such as ITIL, NIST, COBIT, IETF, IEEE)
  • CISSP, CISA, SANS/GIAC Cybersecurity Certifications, or other similar professional designations.
  • Network/application/system vulnerability and threat management experience
  • Experience leading and supporting multiple initiatives at varying stages of process
  • Must be comfortable speaking with both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of information security experience in (or consulting with) large companies or 10+ years' experience with no degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Environment (M365, Defender, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with EDR, PAM and SIEM tools
  • Experience working in a large enterprise

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
