Our team is leveraging the latest emerging technologies to craft the next generation software core of Peapod Digital Labs' eCommerce and order fulfillment infrastructure. As a Software Engineer IV, you will work to build out our suite of highly efficient and performant applications, tools and services, used to streamline the process of turning orders into high-quality products in the hands of our customers.
Recipe for Success - What's "in store" for the role
- Our principal engineers are subject matter experts over a particular domain of our e-commerce/omnichannel solution; for this role your focus would be in Cart, Checkout, & Payments.
- As a Principal Engineer, and in partnership with your Dev Manager peers, you will oversee the initiatives spanning multiple teams.
- Where Dev Managers are expected to focus on Process Improvement, as a Principal Engineer, we will anticipate you to be an expert in System improvement; you will own the architecture and design of your domain, iterating with other Principal Engineers to design and deliver a best-in-class solution.
- While this role is focused on Front-End architecture and needs, you will be empowered to learn and contribute to the entire end-to-end flow - we want you to be equipped with the full system knowledge for which you are designing new components.
- Generating excitement around best practices with a formed and well-thought opinion on "how to do things right"; it is baked into your personal brand.
- A mentor to other developers; working closely with junior, mid-level, and senior developers with a demonstrated ability of collaboration and congeniality.
- Ability to lead and see initiatives through, connecting the dots on missing pieces within both the Technology and Product domains of software development.
- An ability to manage folks as required to see initiatives over the finish line.
- Ability to translate highly technical and complex concepts to the audience; ability to clarify a path forward for complex initiatives.
- Take pride in generating top-quality, highly maintainable software through participating in code reviews, developing unit tests, writing documentation, debugging issues, and investigating root cause.
- Participate in architectural discussions and generate solutions for highly complex problems.
- Research the latest software trends and emerging technologies and recommend opportunities for innovation
The Essentials in Your Cart - The required ingredients
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field; Masters degree preferred
- 6-10 years of experience working with Front-End frameworks; openness to working in Vue.js
- A solid foundation in object-oriented software development fundamentals including design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- Software debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- People management experience
- Experience with other web frameworks, languages and tools
- Experience with software configuration management tools
- Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket
