IC Principal Software Engineer: Backend
About the Role:
You will be leading the efforts to build the next generation platform to power global fares for all of Uber, including every upfront price our users see when deciding to take Uber or order food, and all trip fare earnings for drivers and couriers. The platform is critically responsible for orchestrating Uber's complex pricing and business logic, applying predictive pricing models for accurate pre-trip estimation, and ensuring trustworthy fare calculation.
About the Team:
The Marketplace Fares Engineering Org focuses on powering fares for all of Uber, across all of our products both in Mobility and Uber Eats, globally. The team is tackling some of the hardest quantitative problems, pushing the frontier of technology. We create sophisticated and automated levers that are used by the business teams across cities and regions all over the world. These levers are used to balance and grow both sides of the marketplace in time & space to maintain reliability, fueling Uber's growth at all times.
Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 5-years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR 8-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 5-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
  • Note the 5-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
