Principal Engineer I - Network Provisioning
The Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO oversees the design and architecture of Charter's multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.
As a Principal Engineer 1 of Network Provisioning you will be responsible for support, maintenance and testing of network provisioning applications. A Principal Engineer 1 will demonstrate an exemplary ability to work on applications that span from L4 to L7 of the OSI model. The candidate will be involved in projects of moderate to high complexity within multiple environments
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the team, you will:
Configure and support network and service provisioning applications that service a wide range of CPE devices including Cable Modems, Wireless Gateways, Mobile Devices, and Set-top Boxes
Develop and execute test plans that cover both Functional and Non-Functional requirements
Ensure requirements traceability within test plans link to developer and architectural requirements
Responsible for code deployments and smoke testing for various applications within a lab environment
Build and configure VM servers using vCenter and Terraform
Review and implement new implementation guides provided by development groups, ensuring their validity and accuracy
Prioritize and provide support for incoming tickets associated with the network and service provisioning applications within the lab environments
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Troubleshooting using industry standard tools. This includes, but is not limited to HTTP debugging, Wireshark, Splunk, tcpdump, strace, etc.
Basic knowledge of networking. The candidate should be conversant with IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, TFTP, SCP and have a basic understanding of firewalls and load balancers
Experience with RedHat based operating systems such as RHEL and CentOS at an intermediate level
A self-starter who is eager to learn and able to work independently, but also who works well in a team environment
Must be able to prioritize multiple competing high-profile tasks or projects and achieve incredible results
Assimilate, create, and review documentation for/from various audiences including their immediate team, development, architecture, and management
Good interpersonal skills that will allow the candidate to work and interface with diverse personnel and dynamic teams
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Experience with containerized applications using Kubernetes, Helm, and/or Rancher
Experience in with MSO technologies (Video, HSD, Voice, RF)
Knowledge and experience with SAFe and Agile methodologies
Experience with basic scripting in bash, Perl, or Python
Experience with tools such as Postman or SoapUI for testing and validation of API endpoints
Knowledge and experience with BOSS/BASS systems such as CSG and ICOMS and transactions
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Education
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience

The pay for this position has a minimum of $107,600.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
