Job Summary

As a member of pSemi's Technology Development Organization this individual will drive the development and optimization of RF products including LNA, Switches, and PA devices. The Principal Engineer will work with a high level of autonomy on their projects on sustaining and development of future UltraCMOS™ technologies with internal and external partners.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

  • Identify, develop, and lead projects for RF (LNA, PA, switch) devices and designs with cross-functional teams
  • Understand device and design level RF Key Performance Indicator requirements to achieve product targets
  • Coordinate with and provide support to internal design, modeling, CAD, layout, production, and reliability teams
  • Develop and implement methodologies for technology and device optimization though deep understanding of the link between RF performance, DC performance, device layout and process integration
  • Design test chips and DOE's to support the optimization efforts and analyze them
  • Characterize (small signal, large signal, load/source pull, DC) test structures

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in semiconductor industry, PhD preferred
  • In depth understanding of semiconductor device physics, particular SOI type devices
  • Familiar with CMOS and compound semiconductor processes, RF device characterization and IC design
  • High level of creativity
  • Good data analysis, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Familiar with Cadence Layout tools, Assura DRC/LVS
  • Familiar with DC/AC/RF device characterization equipment (HP4156 parametric analyzer, LCR meter, oscilloscope, vector network analyzers) and probe-station
  • Experience with TCAD 2D/3D process and device simulation tools
  • Proficient in Matlab or C++ and experience with the Microsoft Office programs


Preferred Qualifications
  • Good team work, internally as well as with foundries


Education Requirements
  • Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Materials) Physics, or Chemistry; PhD preferred
