About the Role


The Principal Digital eCommerce Architect is responsible for leading the technical architecture, solution design and implementation of a modern Digital eCommerce platform. The position involves working with one of the leading ecommerce platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud etc. 


You are the in-house expert, responsible for architecting, implementing and managing processes and systems. You are hands-on and detail-oriented, as you will interact with various depts and external system integrators. Be able to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, developing processes and implementing systems from scratch. Understanding of Customer journey for a B2B Commerce environment in a SAAS construct is highly desirable. 


Matterport is a remote workplace with headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. This position can be based remotely in the United States #LI-Remote


What you will do

  • Decomposing Ecommerce functionality into independent components and APIs
  • Working with the functional teams to ensure that the overall composition of the application landscape meets the goals of its business sponsors
  • Lead the full lifecycle of the Ecommerce program from architecture, design, platform selection and implementation. Continued to drive feature enhancements post implementation of the initial rollout.
  • Work closely with the functional stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
  • Develops, trains and mentors staff to ensure compliance with externally committed service level standards. 
  • Manages the lifecycle of the Ecommerce application from implementation through end of life.
  • Regularly performs assessments not limited to system capacity, usage, adoption, security, and compatibility and develops plans to improve results and performance throughout the business as it pertains to system assessments, adoption, overall usage, compliance, and workflow. 

Who you are

  • BS/BA in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study or equivalent 
  • 5-10+ years of technical experience and a thorough understanding of different architectures, tools & languages such as Java, C#, Ruby, Swift, Python, Scala or Clojure
  • 5+ years eCommerce domain experience, either in building custom solutions or integrating with headless or COTS solutions like Shopify, BigCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • Must have excellent analytic, problem solving, project management, product management, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, and tact when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Proven history of achieving or exceeding organizational goals. 
  • Strong ability to coach, mentor and develop teams
