This role will focus on deploying and maintaining well designed solutions to support our applications' business and technical requirements. The ideal candidate will be familiar with current and emerging cloud technologies, system architectures, automation tools and technologies. This role must work closely with application developers, sales, and support engineers across multiple product lines to deliver resilient solutions in a team-oriented environment. The DevOps team provides operational services to all software delivery teams. They build and maintain hardware and software infrastructure for critical engineering services such as issue and task tracking, software configuration management, build and test systems. Their goal is to ever improve engineering practices and efficiencies for all developers, via the maintenance and enhancement of key engineering resources and the intelligent automation of build and quality processes in a Continuous Delivery environment.

  • Design and implement modern technical solutions that address requirements for scalability, reliability, security, automation, and performance
  • Lead operational engineering for activities which include platform upgrades, server patching, monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting and documentation
  • Identify, design, and deploy appropriate monitoring/alerting of service events related to performance, scalability, availability, and reliability
  • Lead deployment strategy discussions, and contribute to decisions on overall deployment design and best approach for implementing solutions
  • Serve as technical subject matter expert on DevOps concepts and practices
  • Stay on top of current DevOps trends and identify how they apply to our environment
  • Help identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet project deadlines
  • Define and apply standards, version controls, and product release procedures
  • Work without supervision on very complex projects with complete latitude for independent judgment
  • Act as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced engineers
  • Actively participate in and sometimes lead Agile ceremonies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Staff Management
  • Manage workloads, expectations, and communication of progress between staff and upper management
  • Manage employee's performance, time off requests, one to one meetings, quarterly check-ins, goals, and growth opportunities
  • Manage a team of developers to implement new features and address defects, 2-4 direct reports are optimal for this position
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to employees, facilitate teamwork, provide guidance, and motivate & recognize staff
  • Help identify and address staff training needs
  • Work with senior management and HR to recruit new staff
