About the role

The Principle Controls Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and testing of controls HW and embedded SW for vehicle and appliance monitoring and controlThe Controls Engineer will work with electric and hybrid vehicle systems, telematics, appliance controls, and IoT devices.  This role is both a leadership and an individual contributor role that requires working with internal and external suppliers to develop systems that meet Remarkable Foods requirements.  

  • Responsible for controls design of hybrid/electric vehicle power components, telematics, and on-vehicle automation and safety monitoring 
  • Implement best practices for code maintenance, documentation, and deployment 
  • Develop relationships with external controls and automation specialists to contribute to our codebase 
  • Develop and implement automation of vehicle systems and appliance monitoring and control 
  • Partner with the Technology team to ensure cloud connectivity and security with vehicles and appliances 

The experience you have

  • 10+ years' experience in controls engineering and/or embedded software, with at least 2 years in a management capacity
  • Experience in breaking down product requirements into technical roadmaps 
  • Expertise in C, C++, Python, Simulink, Qt a plus 
  • Experienced with cloud services and API’s. 
  • Experience with communications protocols like CAN, USB, TCP/IP, I2C 
  • Expert in developing high-level software architectures. 
  • Written Embedded SW for Automation and/or Vehicles 
  • Degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Systems Engineering 
  • Solid knowledge of vehicle and safety regulations (NHSTA - FMVSS) is a plus 
  • Exposure to commercial kitchen appliance design is considered a plus  
  • Background in robotics, controls, and sensors is a nice to have. 
  • Familiar with Agile development.
