The Production Infrastructure team delivers highly scalable and available infrastructure to support a suite of SaaS applications deployed in both hybrid and PaaS cloud environments. As a Cloud Engineer on the Production Infrastructure team you would help in the design, implementation, support and monitoring of a suite of 24x7x365 production application environments. Candidates would preferably have broad experience across both virtual and physical infrastructure stacks as well as AWS experience. Systems run on both Linux and Windows environments with multiple database back-ends and a mix of both PaaS and Hybrid deployments with relatively complex networking requirements.

Principal Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate will provide support across a multi-region AWS deployment as well as physical data centers dispersed in the US and Europe
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS resources in a multi-account, multi-region footprint
  • Build and maintain highly available systems with auto-scaling systems on Kubernetes and/or ECS
  • Provide Kubernetes design expertise across the organization for addressing operational issues as well as supporting software development activities
  • Possess a deep regard and understanding for the highly available nature of customer facing production systems where the expectation is that we maintain uptime and meet SLAs under any conditions.
  • Maintain excellent communications with Director and team on all tasks and projects.
  • Adhere to and mature the best practices for the support and deployment of our infrastructure across the enterprise stack.
  • Monitor environment for abnormal performance, failures or unauthorized access and take required steps to minimize downtime or loss of data.
  • Perform system administration for equipment within areas of scope.
  • Assist in the maintenance and enforcement of system standards and help maintain regulatory compliance
  • Implement and improve monitoring and alerting
  • Maintain documentation and procedures, reporting to management as required.
  • Work in supporting complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires the application of scientific methods and an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.

Position Requirements

  • At least 3-5+ years' experience managing Kubernetes both cloud and on premise setup and installation
  • In depth experience with Kubernetes infrastructure and significant experience as a Linux Systems Administrator preferably within a software development environment
  • In depth experience installing, configuring, and administering Kubernetes distributions including security, compliance, and automation
  • Experience using DevOps tools in a cloud environment, such as Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, Jenkins, and SonarQube
  • Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Build, release, and manage the configuration of all production systems
  • Experience managing AWS accounts and security
  • Experience in troubleshooting distributed systems
  • Proficiency in script development and scripting languages
  • The ability and skill to train other people in procedural and technical topics
  • Experience in the use of and support of monitoring solutions such as Check_MK, Syslog, and Splunk.
  • Knowledge of best-practice network security and concepts.
  • Highly adaptable to changes in technology and business requirements.
  • Addressing and solving "multi-layer" network problems.
  • Goal oriented self-starter who is highly ethical
  • Prefer: Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA)
  • Prefer: AWS Solutions Architect Associate

  • Open minded and willing to collaborate with others on the team
  • Contributes independently with little need for supervision
