 Principal Build Infrastructure Engineer Remote (US)

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Build Infrastructure team designs, implements, and maintains all code and tooling in support of the CI process used by all developers at Stitch Fix.  We believe that reducing cycle time and creating fast feedback loops promotes high code quality, safer deployments, and developer innovation and happiness. We use modern platform practices like Infrastructure-as-Code, security scanning and linting, versioning and tagging, and artifact repository management.  We also drive the adoption of innovative CI tooling and technologies as they emerge. The Build Infrastructure team enables a rapidly-growing engineering organization to deploy hundreds of times a day within a distributed microservices architecture

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Engineer on the Build Infrastructure team, you will build and improve Stitch Fix's CI pipeline, build, and test infrastructure. You'll develop tools and automation that enable internal product developers to confidently generate, test, and upload build versions to artifact repositories, and debug build and test failures easily and efficiently. You'll collaborate with a distributed team of platform engineers to design innovative solutions that standardize and streamline build, test, and artifact creation operations, increasing code quality and developer confidence.

  • You are comfortable creating and have high value for high, mid, and low level technical documentation in support of communicating work within the team, as well as to engineering stakeholder partners.
  • Providing technical leadership and coaching for a new team excites and motivates you.
  • You enjoy identifying build/testing bottlenecks and implementing data-driven solutions and improvements using both CI-native and CI-non-native telemetry tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
  • You are motivated by opportunities to shift solutions to the infrastructure level using tools that quickly and efficiently give build and testing feedback.
  • You have a passion for simplifying and automating build and test tasks.
  • You have developer empathy and want to improve developers' lives.
  • You are curious, flexible, and are motivated by challenge.
  • You have a track record of managing expectations and delighting your
  • customers.
  • You have excellent communication skills.
