This is a unique opportunity to make an impact on new product development for Gartner's Cloud Decisions development team. The Cloud Decisions development team is a very fast paced interactive research team. Taking Gartner research, and external data, to create an interactive solution for our clients is where we excel. The Principal Architect role is a key driver for our ongoing transformation of our Cloud Service Provider partnership and interactions. This person will be responsible for the creation and development of our data acquisition and management processes. Additionally, this role will be working with the cloud providers to define and drive standards for various metrics and data management techniques with the Cloud Service Providers.

What you will do:

  • Work with Cloud Service Providers to deliver new data, features and new data acquisition processes and tools
  • Design and develop the information management models and processes to ensure timely and accurate information for our clients
  • Design and develop application modules that utilize internal research and externally obtained data
  • Collaborate and partner with Cloud Service Providers to guide Gartner's partnership with them as we enable new processes
  • Partner with executive leadership and product management to refine delivery content and schedules
  • Work with our contract development resources to ensure they are delivering the right value to Gartner and our clients
  • Work in each of the clouds to refine our engagement and optimize the utilization of their resources
  • Deliver new, or enhanced, content to engage our client base and provide them the knowledge they need to carry their organizations forward
  • Gather and prioritize product and customer requirements while tracking progress towards deliverables

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field
  • 15-20 years software development experience
  • Experience with cloud environments (app development and/or administration of an environment)
  • Knowledge of Linux usage and administration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment with internal and external partners
  • Ability to design, develop, organize, and lead initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with Github, CI/CD Platforms, Node.js, Typescript, PHP, Bash, MySQL and GraphQL
  • Demonstrated experience with administration and utilization of the cloud environments within the major providers. Amazon Web Service (AWS), Azure and Google Compute (GCP) preferred with an emphasis on AWS. Knowledge of the other environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate qualitative and quantitative analysis into actionable business strategies
  • Experience in gathering input from and communicating ideas to clients, partners, and key stakeholders across businesses
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of business, data science and technical stakeholders
  • Outstanding project management skills (projects involving internal and external stakeholders) with ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
