The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. The Electronics and Power Systems Department (EPSD), is an organization within ESD. Our staff includes subject matter experts across a broad range of disciplines including Electromagnetic Environmental Effects, Analog Circuit Design and Simulation, and Space rated DC Power Systems. Our expertise, combined with sophisticated in-house laboratories, includes hardware prototyping, circuit modeling and simulation, and Power Systems level modeling and simulation. The collective expertise and resources enable EPSD to deliver innovative solutions to national space systems and civil customers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform assessment of contractor spacecraft and launch vehicle power system design architectures.
- Provide Power Systems Engineering technical support to SMC, NRO and Civil Space programs.
- Create energy balance and energy depletion analysis models and conduct independent reviews of contractor space vehicle or launch vehicle energy balance analyses or energy depletion analyses respectively
- Write clear and concise reports that document your work
- Serve as the customer's Subject Matter Expert by providing technical support to program offices for conceptual designs, requirement development, proposal evaluation, design evaluation and verification, launch operations, and anomaly root-cause / corrective action investigations.
- Provide launch and initialization support for spacecraft or launch support for launch vehicles
- Provide systems integration and test support, which includes acceptance test data reviews and anomaly investigations (includes troubleshooting)
- Work across a multitude of disciplines (Flight Mechanics, Control Analysis, Thermal, and Communication Systems) as a project lead to provide analysis products and technical services
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed

- For launch anomaly support and general program support, it is very important for SMEs to be highly innovative and responsive in situations where quick turnaround solutions are essential to save national assets

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in Power Systems Engineering or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of power systems, energy storage, and energy generation devices
- Fundamental knowledge of power system design techniques
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in powers systems, energy storage, or energy generation disciplines
- Current Secret clearance with SSBI
- Track record of mentoring junior team members
- Track record of being a team player and possessing outstanding soft skills
- Demonstrated expert level knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Power Systems
- Energy storage
- Energy generation
