Platform Software Manager , C++
The Platform Infrastructure team seeks a talented Software Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on building and maintaining a safe, reliable, and performant software platform for our autonomous driving system. You will lead a team of talented software engineers and collaborate with technical leadership from across the organization to deliver on Motional’s mission.
The Platform Infrastructure team builds, supports, and maintains the core software platform onboard the vehicle and works closely with our hardware and autonomy teams.
The Motional Pittsburgh office is located in the new Hazelwood Green development at 4734 Second Avenue, a culmination of the city’s goal of restoring an economic driver to the neighborhood in a thoughtful, inclusive, and sustainable way. With views along the Monongahela river, the Pittsburgh office is in the heart of this new state of the art development.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and growing a team of software engineers focused on ensuring the Platform Infrastructure team delivers high-quality, safe, and secure software.
- Guiding the professional growth of your team members.
- Hiring world class engineers and maintaining the health of the existing team.
- Contributing to the long-term vision of the team and organization, working closely with other engineering leaders and product management.
- Leveraging your experience in production software environments to build and deploy stable, reliable systems.
- Collaboration with leaders across the organization to manage cross-team dependencies and execution in support of org-level programs.
What We're Looking For
- BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
- 7+ years professional experience developing software using modern C++ in a Linux environment, with 3+ years of experience managing or supervising teams
- Experience in leading and managing a team of software engineers, including setting a vision for the team and motivating engineers
- Expertise implementing high quality software and deploying on real-world systems
- Customer focus and the ability to collaborate and gain alignment across multiple stakeholders.
- Travel is required
