ABOUT THE ROLE

Performance Engineering is a critical function of the Engineering division focusing on system reliability, benchmarking, tuning, capacity, and scalability of the platform products & infrastructure. As a Performance Engineer, you'll play a very important role in our products' success. In this role, you will partner with other performance engineers and support the performance engineering efforts, define KPI’s and standards across different product lines with multiple releases, infrastructure baseline, new development efforts, cloud migrations infra sizing, and production support initiatives using a wide range of tools and utilities. This is a largely cross functional opportunity working with core platform, cloud operations, product, development, and support teams, capable of handling tasks to accelerate the test engineering and to improve the performance and quality for Applications at Accela

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement solutions to evaluate and improve performance and scalability 
    • Develop solutions for Platform reliability, scaling, benchmarking, API tuning for performance engineering strategy and automation 
    • Root cause performance and scalability issues and contribute to product code quality 
    • Creating and promoting a testing environment that encourages innovation and sets high standards for quality and productivity 
    • Drive key performance metrics, bottlenecks and obtain the buy in from key stakeholders. 
    • Provide technical expertise in performance requirements analysis, design, effort estimation, testing and delivery of scalable and SaaS solutions 
    • Develop tools and processes to test software applications using JMeter and Python/Java to automate simulation of expected user workloads to identify functional and performance bottlenecks 
    • Execute and Analyze test results and establish reliable statistical models for response time, throughput, network utilization and other application performance metrics 
    • Clearly and frequently communicate progress to process / execution improvement deliverables to partners and stakeholder 
    • Collaborate with Development, SRE, Database, Cloud Operations, Security and other teams in evaluating performance issues and solutions for the infrastructure 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of performance engineering experience including platform scaling and high throughput engineering focus
  • Master/Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and any related discipline
  • Work experience building performance solutions for high volume transactional systems
  • Understanding of hardware and software considerations and tuning for low latency workloads
  • Experience designing and developing fault tolerance and scalable systems
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure, Java Platforms, API Management and Mobile Applications
  • Experience with REST Principles, APIs and Mobile Performance
  • Strong Debugging, Monitoring, Optimization skills using JMeter, Data dog or similar tools
  • Expert ability to identify performance issues within the J2EE/.Net architecture Load balancers, IIS, Database (Oracle/SQL), Operating System, Network, Software (JAVA/.Net) and Hardware
  • Hands-on experience building enterprise level performance automaton test suites
  • Knowledge and hands on experience working with distributed caching systems like Redis, etc.
  • Experience in building statistical analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with SAAS deployment, manage, deploy, and support multiple concurrent releases through various test environment
  • Experience working in fast paced Agile environments with working knowledge of Scrum principles and methodologies
  • Ability to collaborate closely with clear communication skills
