The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for supporting the structural design, form, and function of packaging used by our Exclusive Brand manufacturing partners. This role will help imagine the future and facilitate implementation of advancements within our packaging around our industry leading Quality Standards, Sustainability vision, the customer experience, as well as functional supply chain impacts, all while furthering the Company Purpose to Nourish People and the Planet. It is critical for this team member to appreciate and understand implications of packaging changes to the downstream of the item with things like shelf-life spoliation, supply chain performance, structural integrity of package, and other technical quality and art design impacts.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Partner across key stakeholders among the Product Development, Global Merchant, Quality Standards, and Sustainability teams to develop a roadmap of focus and development
• Collaborate with our supplier community to help bring the roadmap to life
• Serve as a trusted advisor in the space of structural packaging design with the full stakeholder group of our Exclusive Brands community
• Leverage technical expertise on the development and oversight of manufacturing implementation of packaging renovations or innovations
• Oversee the implementation of packaging renovations / innovations with supplier(s)
• Nurture industry relationships to stay on the front of new developments, capabilities, and trends
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• 5 years related work experience in packaging structural design or engineering used in Food
• Passion for sustainability and quality standards
