OSAT Process Engineer - SiPh Component Operations
What You'll Do
The Cisco-Acacia component operations team is looking for an experienced process engineer to support development activities with our OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) partners. You'll use your knowledge and experience in optics manufacturing to move Cisco Acacia's class-leading silicon photonic products from prototype-commit to volume manufacturing phases.
For new products you will work closely with the design and engineering teams to roll out new product introductions (including DFM). Expect to work closely with the OSAT engineering teams to increase first pass yield, reduce performance variability and ramp to full capacity. For sustaining products, you will focus on improving product performance while minimizing reliability issues, ultimately saving cost and maximizing quality.
High Level Responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement of key OSAT manufacturing processes.
• Define key process capability metrics and design rules by OSAT.
• Guide OSATs to meet Cisco Acacia targets for output, yield, scrap, Cpk, HPU and cost.
• Work with OSAT engineers to design and maintain process flows, layouts, capacity models.
• Adapt leading-edge 3D stacked packaging technologies to product design requirements
• Develop new processes for NPI, as well as DFM and PFMEA guidance.
• Provide training and assistance to the OSAT to enhance their capability when required.
• Provide comprehensive reports on OSAT performance and updates.
• Work with the OSAT in failure analysis investigation on RMA on issues related to manufacturing and provide solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
• Start up new OSAT's when required.
Who You'll Work With
You will be working in our silicon photonics component operations group, collaborating closely with HW Engineering, Product Ops, Quality Eng, and Supply Chain groups.
Who You Are
You should be accustomed to working independently to achieve goals. Your communication and listening skills will be the key to success in our group and Acacia. Attention to detail is critical.
Your background must include 3D stacked packaging process development, and optical module assembly experience is recommended. There will be occasional weekend support required and you should be ready for limited (up to 15%) travel to international partner locations.
Our Minimum Requirements For This Role
• BS or MS in Optical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Material Science
• At least 5 years' experience with electronic (preferably opto) modules in volume manufacturing.
• Materials knowledge of photonic components, adhesives, ceramics, fibers, metals, fatigue.
• Design of experiments, principles of process control, SPC tools such as SAS and JMP.
• Familiarity with electrical and optical test platforms and concepts.
• Knowledge of Opto-electronic components, multi-chip on carrier processes, underfill processes and other applicable processes related to the fabrication of PIC and Optical Engine-based devices is strongly recommended.
• Prior experience with epoxies, knowledge of issues regarding out-gassing, seam sealing, damp heat, temperature cycling and optical fiber integrity tests.
• Process experience & expertise in wire bond, welding, evaporation and corrosion control.
• Experience with advanced packaging, including flip-chip, 3D stacked assembly applications.
