Job Summary:
As the Product Development Engineer, you will be the foremost expert in Operations on the technical aspects of our raw materials for every business unit. You’ll work closely with the Product, Sourcing, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to bring new products to market and diversify our supply chain for existing products. Your work will enable Ruggable to onboard suppliers more rapidly, quickly eliminate vendor-driven quality issues, and play a more proactive role in product development.
What You’ll Do:
- Create detailed product and manufacturing specifications for our product components to foster a stronger understanding of those inputs
- Partner with Sourcing to help prospective new suppliers troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and ultimately shorten the onboarding process
- Support the Quality team on root cause analysis for complex raw material quality defects
- Develop thorough manufacturing SOPs for our raw materials to harmonize how our suppliers make our products and accelerate the development process
- Find quantitative, standardized ways to objectively measure component performance
- Collaborate with the Product department to make improvements to both new and existing products
What You’ll Need to Have:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing work environment
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft / Google Suite
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to meet with vendors
Preferred:
- Mandarin or Vietnamese proficiency
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma (LSS), 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, DMS and/or Kaizen
- Experience developing products in the home goods industry
