The VMware Office of the CTO (OCTO) ACE team is seeking talented Solutions Architect to join us in delivering cutting edge innovation across the VMware product portfolio and beyond.

Job Role and Responsibilities

VMware's Accelerated Co-Innovation Engineering (ACE) team offers a unique opportunity to engage in a new program in which you will incorporate new and advanced technologies into VMware products with and for our advanced customers and business unit co-innovation initiatives. You will work closely with and create exciting and disruptive technologies, solutions and capabilities broadly impacting the company and our customers. This position will be a key role for the team in which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to drive our co-innovation project pipeline, work with world class innovators and understand the dynamics of building new technology in a 'startup like' context within a large and mature company. The ACE experience is the perfect place to blaze new trails, work on high impact projectsand to see your work rapidly incorporated into shipping product.

We are seeking an experienced software developer with excellent communications and presentation skills. The successful candidate will interact with our advanced customers and partners to design, build and advocate for solutions based on multi-cloud management, modern applications, federated machine learning and other advanced technologies with and for the VMware product family. The ideal candidate can exhibit experience rapidly architecting and prototyping minimum viable product and presenting complex solutions to prove solution efficacy and secure project funding.

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to rapidly prototype and generate demonstrative, minimum viable product solutions integrating new technologies and APIs with and into existing software.
• Ability to work closely with VMware product teams and customers to identify and validate future, on-roadmap use cases and reference architectures.
• BA/BS or above in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proven track record with a minimum of 3 years software/computer engineering experience.
• Experience with cloud native technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and the Kubernetes Operator pattern.
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation solutions such as Terraform, SaltSack, etc.
• Experience with and familiarity implementing VMware products.
• At least one year of structured software development experience with current programming languages including Go, Rust and Java and scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.

Preferred Experience:

• Three years or more in active development of Modern Applications, container-based, at-scale deployments of the same, Functional Computing (e.g., FaaS) and the like.
• One year or more architecting and building production software products or integrated software solutions leveraging SRE and DevOps principles and tooling.
• Container technologies (e.g., CRI/CNI/CSI, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, etc.).
• Public cloud services platforms including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
