About the team
The FIS Payments team focuses on payments modernization! We support financial institutions globally in meeting their payments unification goals. We bring payment systems and operations up to next generation technology and the next generation's customer demands.
What you will be doing
In this role you will be part of a Non-Functional Engineering team that is responsible for the performance, scalability, operations and deployments for FIS enterprise payment software solutions. You will be exposed to the full software lifecycle from pre-sales all the way through to production support for critical enterprise payment solutions that are deployed at Top 50 financial institutions throughout North America as well as hosted in FIS Datacenters. You will work collaboratively with development, QA, and business analysts to manage the non-functional requirements for the software solutions.

  • Act as a technical interface to the production support, customer and/or implementation teams for system deployment, operations, performance, and scalability.
  • Support implementations of FIS OPF based Enterprise Payment solutions on 3rd Party Software stack (WebSphere/JBoss Application Servers, Oracle 19c database, WebSphere MQ Server)
  • Assist both customers and FIS hosting team members with system installation, configuration, and operation.
  • Advise customers on best practices for system monitoring.
  • Review and provide feedback on non-functional requirements, test plans and test results.
  • Execute performance testing and work with development to ensure that the performance requirements for the software are met or exceeded
  • Maintain knowledge transfer through Wiki and other mechanisms
  • Use scripting languages such as ant, yaml, shell and python for build and deployment


What you bring

  • Requires a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in enterprise Java EE application deployment, operation, and/or performance testing
  • Requires experience installing systems from the ground up, including the setup and allocation of storage, installation of software packages/RPMs, and configuration of the system (including kernel parameter changes)
  • Requires experience with the clustering and tuning of Java EE enterprise application servers, preferably with Websphere and/or JBoss
  • Requires experience with the installation, configuration, and operation of relational databases, preferably with Oracle
  • Experience scripting in a Linux environment (i.e. shell scripting, Perl, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills

  • Knowledge of financial services industry
  • Experience with cloud-based deployment models such as Kubernetes/Openshift
  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles including agile, iterative, and other modern approaches to software development
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Must have experience working with and in front of customers
  • May require in-depth knowledge of networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management, and related infrastructure technologies and practices
