Eaton's Vehicle Technology and Innovation division is currently seeking a New Product Development Engineering Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Southfield, MI office. Relocation assistance and sponsorship benefits are available for candidates currently located within the United States.

Position Overview:

Our 48V News Spaces organization is currently seeking a New Product Development Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team. This position builds solutions within cross-functional, global teams for the transportation industry.

The incumbent will be responsible for the leading a team of engineers to develop, introduce, and validate new 48V products for commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle applications. This includes working with OEM customers and Marketing to develop new 48V solutions.

In this function you will:
  • Manage engineering resources required to develop, introduce and validate new 48V products, ensuring manufacturability is attained while maintaining product design integrity.
  • Collaborate with numerous internal stakeholders including program management, operations, sales, product strategy, marketing, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and Eaton Research Labs.
  • Work in close coordination with internal stakeholders to deliver products and projects on time, on budget, and to customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with numerous external stakeholders including component suppliers, engineering services and OEM.
  • Develop and apply appropriate product documentation, design standards, development processes and specifications that are to be developed to support product development activities
  • Assist in building and assembling a highly capable and motivated team focused on 48V vehicle solutions.
  • Coach and mentor direct and indirect team members to meet commitments and develop team engineering skills and competencies.
  • Define resources and timing commitments required to execute product line goals. Manage resources and team to achieve goals.
  • Ensure all products are designed to achieve high quality. Drive engineering discipline in the product line.
  • Assist in leading the generation of intellectual property while advancing technology at Eaton.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or other approved technical degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of seven (7) years in engineering product development
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in development and design of vehicle electronics systems
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred qualifications:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in engineering product development
  • Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management or Business.
  • Previous work experience within a global and matrixed business environment.
  • DFSS greenbelt or blackbelt certification.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Systems "V" development process.
  • Experience with and understanding of functional safety development processes.

Position Criteria:
  • Good understanding of vehicle markets and the environmental requirements and related qualification testing required
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly with respect to written and oral communication
  • Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with customers, manufacturing, and suppliers.
