Job Description:
Responsible for directly partnering with Application Development and Production Support teams to implement the measures prescribed through the collaboration of the SRE Lead or Senior SRE and their partners. This will include ensuring the appropriate instrumentation, tooling, ticketing, alerting and on-call routines are in place for key services. This role will be engaged in production triage efforts and work with Problem Management in the identification of root cause for issues as required, using the knowledge gained in those efforts to partner closely with the Senior SRE to address any gaps in the reliability measurements and dashboards. The SRE II will also focus heavily on software development activities, with a focus toward delivering automated solutions to eliminate 'toil' and suggest code enhancements to the application development teams.

Network Release and Quality Management organization is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who has experience in network routing and switching technologies. The candidate should also have experience in writing software for automation. Experience in network change management and implementation. This position will work with Engineering, Service Delivery, Tools, and Operations teams to deliver Best in Class service levels for the global network. This includes, reducing the toil for all manual and repetitive work, automating network change implementation, validation, analysis, and troubleshooting. RQM SRE provides rotational on call support. Providing technical troubleshooting, and triaging analysis. RQM SRE is also responsible for ensuring accuracy of High-Risk Change pre implementation documentation.
Required Skills

 

  • SRE individual should be skilled in one or two fields with a wide breadth of knowledge in many technologies and software development skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication. - Must be able to communicate at all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical skills. - Must be able to think outside the box
  • Experience with Network technologies and have expert level experience in routing and switching
  • Broad knowledge related to Firewall, Proxy, DDI, Load Balancing, AAA & more
  • Experience with software engineering/development
  • Knowledgeable in software defined networking (SDN)
  • Experience with debugging complex networking problems
  • Experience with operating large scale network systems/services
  • Experience with automating infrastructure, testing & deployments
  • Experience with monitoring & observability, such as Splunk and SevOne
  • Knowledgeable in Unix/Linux shell, can write shell scripts
  • Knowledgeable in Python, Ansible, similar
  • Knowledgeable in JIRA, Confluence
  • Understand network configuration management
  • Understand containers, such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Hands-on experience with using source control: Git, GitHub
  • Experience with on a rotational on call support team
  • Ability to work in a UNIX based environment, including intermediate level sys admin tasks, without supervision
  • CCNP level is preferred or other applicable technical certifications
  • Knowledge of Agile framework & SCRUM ceremonies
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent preferred
