Network Engineer
How will this role have an impact?
We are looking to hire an experienced network engineer to manage and maintain our company’s enterprise networks with connections into Azure and AWS. As a network engineer, you will be responsible for handling advanced support issues, maintaining branch office communications and VPNs. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the functional management of our network and the resolution of network issues.
To ensure success as a network engineer, you should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks, high-level managerial skills, and advanced project management skills. The Senior Network Engineer ensures the networking team performs as a cohesive unit, maintaining the stability and performance of the network.
Not only can you help us connect the dots and evolve our cloud capabilities over time, but you’re also evolving your own capabilities as an engineer and keeping an eye on developments that can support our expansion and help us implement those, too!
This role will report to our Director of Cloud Operations
What will you do?
- Installing and configuring networking hardware (switches, firewalls, SDN, Azure, AWS virtual networks; direct connect and express route)
- Creating and implementing network security measures with Security Operations teams
- Managing and mentoring other engineers
- Conducting regular network performance tests
- Performing networking maintenance tasks to ensure availability
- Dealing with escalated network support issues
- Reporting up network status reports (monthly)
- Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the company
- Write and implement networking protocols company-wide via department policies and procedures
- Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous work experience as a networking engineer (6+ years)
- Advanced knowledge of communication and routing protocols
- Advanced knowledge of network operating systems including Cisco, Palo Alto, and IOS. (Citrix Netscaler, etc.)
- Knowledge of networking hardware including CPUs, wiring, routers, storage systems (Pure/Netapp)
- Familiarity with network analysis tools including LogicMonitor/Solarwinds
- Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering
- Interest in Network/Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace
- Skilled at working with a team of engineers, or alone as required
- Cisco Certifications (CCNP or equivalent)
- Certification as an Azure Administrator/Architect Certification, AWS Solutions Architect and/or Cloud Security Certification
