Network Engineer I
The role, at a glance:
The primary role of the Network Engineer is to assist the Senior Network Engineer with the design, build, and implementation of network systems across the enterprise. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network connections, corporate servers, associated software, firewalls, and communication links. This person will also troubleshoot network performance issues, analyze network traffic and provide capacity-planning solutions.
How you’ll contribute:
- Install, support, and maintain network hardware and software according to published best practices.
- Assist the senior network staff with firewall and VPN management and administration as directed.
- Provide input for developing guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices.
- Maintain network documentation, including inventory lists and warranty information.
- Respond to network outages and issues via our monitoring system.
- Complete tasks assigned in the project board and ticketing system.
- Work closely with colleagues to meet team project timelines.
- Diagnose issues with LAN, WAN, and wireless connectivity for end users.
- Troubleshoot and monitor various VOIP and voice technologies.
- Participate in Biamp's incident response framework.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work for network maintenance, troubleshooting, and project deadline.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.
A successful candidate should have:
- Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology (IT) or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum of 2 +years’ experience or education in networking.
- Troubleshooting skills at the network and application layer
- Knowledge of Fortinet firewalls and security products
- Knowledge of modern enterprise wireless technologies
- Knowledge of MS Teams Telephony technologies
- Understanding of networking best practices and protocols
- Knowledge of multi-site corporate networks, including architecture and security risks
- CCNA/CCENT certification (or equivalent from other vendors) a plus.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, move about, hear and speak.
- The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Travel to support remote offices, both domestic and international (~5% travel)
- May be required to work outside core business hours, including early morning, late evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- This is an on-site Beaverton and Tigard position with occasional remote activities
