LightEdge Solutions is currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Network Architect to join our team. 


This individual will serve as a strategic technical resource for the organization; identifying industry trends, proposing architectural improvements and leading efforts to design, build and deliver industry leading networking products and services to our internal and external customers.


This individual will assist in the strategic planning related to capacity management, and implementation of new policies and procedures with focus on continual improvement in service delivery. They will also assist customer support with resolution of customer incident and problem tickets escalated to Product Engineering.

Specific Assignments:

  • Research and communicate industry trends, product ideas, product designs and architectural improvements to senior leadership, sales and operations staff.
  • Assist in development of monitoring and capacity planning methods and tools for our network backbone.
  • Actively watch for and identify possible areas of improvement. Work with management team to achieve efficient, effective use of our network platforms.
  • Responsible for diagnosing and resolving critical platform-level technical issues quickly and effectively. 
  • Act as escalation point on technical issues for all other technical groups within the organization; troubleshoot complex customer issues.
  • Work with telco carriers to troubleshoot critical network backbone circuit issues
  • Function as liaison between Operations and Product Development (PD) teams when new products and technologies are brought to market.
  • Will be involved in product lifecycle decisions as they affect the network, including but not limited to change management, platform upgrades, capacity planning, monitoring, problem management, and moves/adds/changes.
  • Provide recommendations and assistance to Engineering and PD departments with projects and technologies; act as Project Manager for some network projects.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining extensive documentation of all network-related platforms, support tools, troubleshooting guides, and other critical information.
  • Lead regular training/refresher sessions for other technical departments.
  • Serve in network engineering on-call rotation on nights and weekends.
  • Coordinate and implement after-hours maintenances as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related industry experience7+ years of experience in Network Design/Engineering/Administration/Automation
  • Advanced familiarity with Cisco IOS, ACI, IOS-XR and NX-OS, VMware NSX-V and NSX-T operating systems; preference given to prior experience in multi-tenant/service provider networks
  • Advanced familiarity with Cisco ASA, Palo Alto PAN and other industry leading firewall platforms
  • Strong familiarity with Cisco product families and hardware architectures
  • Strong familiarity with Optical Transport Networking, DWDM
  • Experience with VMware vSphere design, installation, configuration and administration.
  • Solid understanding of the following protocols and technologies:
  • Ethernet, L2/L3 fabrics, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, MST, PVST+, CWDM/DWDM, QoS, IPSec VPNs, MPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN, Segment Routing, EVPN
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to changes in technology
  • Experience troubleshooting Optical, Ethernet, and fiber circuits
  • Excellent telephone and personal customer service skills required
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and friendly manner with customers in written communication
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to multi task and operate with minimal supervision, adjusting priorities accordingly
  • Able to maintain professional demeanor under stress
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to changes in technology
  • Experience troubleshooting applications and network issues using a network protocol analyzer
  • Cisco certifications preferred but not required; CCNP, CCIP, CCIE
  • VMware certifications preferred but not required: VCP, VCDX
