NASA Senior Software Engineer
Description
SAIC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support The Ocean Biology Processing Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
The Ocean Biology Processing Group (http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is a world leader in satellite-based remote sensing of the ocean. This position will support the OBPG in development, testing, installation and configuration management of processing software for current and future Earth remote sensing satellite instruments (e.g., PACE, VIIRS, MODIS).
SAIC is extending a Sign-On Bonus for the most qualified candidate.
Duties include: Scientific software development and maintenance; Software testing, Configuration management and installation; and Supervision of scientific programmers performing these tasks.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or Mathematics
Required experience/skills: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience developing scientific data processing software using C/C++ in a UNIX/Linux environment; experience with revision control systems (preferably Git); experience with issue tracking systems; familiarity with netCDF and HDF5 file formats; experience supervising a small team of software developers.
Desired experience/skills: FORTRAN and Python programming languages; experience with scientific satellite data processing.
