About the job
The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Monitoring and Logging Architect to join our Digital Solutions Delivery team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing architectural technical assistance for the development and implementation of complex products, applications, and solutions. You will use in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to team members and associates through technical presentations and product demonstrations. You'll help the technical team in assessing potential application of company products to meet associate needs. You may create detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products, applications, and solutions. Using your expertise you will recommend improvements necessary to ensure operation of the company's high traffic, business critical internet production environment. As the Monitoring and Logging Architect, you will manage the load configuration of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade. You may also provide consultation to prospective associates and product capability assessment and validation. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Be responsible for designing and implementing short and long-term roadmaps to align with strategy for managing and maintaining monitoring and operational analytics platforms
  • Be responsible for making sure all planned and in-place monitoring platform architectures are aligned with the Red Hat IT goals
  • Provide expertise, coaching, and architectural technical assistance to other Red Hat IT associates including development teams, system analysts, architects, and engineers
  • Conduct research on new technologies in the field of monitoring, create and develop plans for testing and investing in such technologies that will increase efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility
  • Work with implementation and deployment teams to ensure deployed solutions are in line with architecture design and are meeting expectations of end-to-end integrated monitoring platform(s)
  • Review new and existing monitoring designs and make recommendations for improving or modernizing monitoring solutions
  • Partner with key stakeholders, IT, and business leadership to develop the strategy, pursue feedback, and encourage change as strategy and solutions maturity
  • Build a unified monitoring strategy across IT and consumers of IT services, like Products and Technologies (PnT)
  • Consolidate monitoring tools to provide a simple, scalable, and consistent approach to implement monitoring that is ubiquitous for infrastructure and application
  • Build a unified data platform to streamline accessibility to IT datasets
  • Work with internal customers to help establish report and monitoring design standards and best practices
  • Manage change and help determine the future architecture of Red Hat's IT data fabric
  • Explore and enable IT's use of system generated and IT operations data to promote efficiency and effectiveness
  • Create an end-to-end monitoring view for any incident or event reporting
  • Partner with our internal product teams (OpenStack or OpenShift) to provide feedback from internal and external customers around opportunities to provide integrated solutions to complementary products in the monitoring and data analytics space that are vendor agnostic


What you will bring

  • Experience with technologies in the monitor and logging discipline; Splunk or CatchPoint are a plus
  • 3+ years of experience working in as a senior software engineering, consulting, sales engineering, or a solutions architect role
  • 5+ years of experience with full life cycle application development, including proven architecture experience, e.g., agile methodology, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), service-oriented architecture (SOA), high availability, scaling, distributed applications, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud, e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure, and container technologies, mainly Docker and Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
  • Ability to develop excellent presentation skills; ability to present to small and large groups of mixed audiences like technical, management, and leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to guide and mentor technical team members
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, within North America, when needed for events and meetings, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines
  • Project technical lead, architecture design experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's or master's degree is a plus
