OUR TEAM

The Whistle Mobile Engineering team is a group of engineers responsible for managing and maintaining the Whistle iOS and Android applications (both are native apps). Our goal is to help everyone pet parent like a pro by providing outstanding mobile experiences that provide insight to the health, well-being, and location of the user’s pet. Our mobile apps are the window into all the data collected by Whistle’s hardware products. We have mature Swift and Kotlin codebases, and strive to continue improving that base as we develop new features in concert with the product and hardware teams and revisit the things we have built to continue iterating and making Whistle the “best of bread” for smart pet collars.

HOW YOU’LL HELP EVERY ONE PET PARENT LIKE A PRO

As an Engineering Manager of this Kinship Engineering team, you’ll collaborate with other Engineering Managers and engineers, including offshore and in-house to create the best customer experience possible.

• Lead and coach a global team of 8 engineers tasked with maintaining and building new features for our mobile apps
• Effectively communicate platform features and constraints of the mobile client to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
• Partner closely with product and design to define and plan successful delivery of all our mobile initiatives
• Directly responsible for career development of engineers in the team.
• Manage the tactical strategy and planning to achieve frequent work and quarterly objectives of the larger organization
• Be part of the engineering leadership team by supporting and initiating continual improvement to our overall system architecture, process and tools.
• Build a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• 7+ years of experience in software development with at least 2+ years of experience managing teams of native Android and iOS engineers
• 5+ years of hands-on mobile development. Your experience may be either Android or iOS
• Current knowledge of the development ecosystem
• Proven experience building teams with exceptional talent
• Proven experience in building scalable solutions
• Critical thinking that would help synthesizing information in a systematic way. It includes anticipating and identifying problems before they emerge, looking beyond symptoms to identify root causes, and developing alternative solutions.
• Shown success project managing technical work in an agile environment
• Experience with automated testing frameworks used for Mobile applications
