Position is available for remote work anywhere in the USA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages and mentors a highly skilled, talented team of mobile Software Engineers
- Owns areas of the mobile application development and related services, while directing the work of other team members
- Coordinates strategies amongst partner product and development teams to ensure related technologies and products work together cleanly
- Prioritizes and reduces technical debt and developer friction to ensure the NM mobile app is modern, fast, and easy to work with
- Assesses the quality of releases through monitoring of incoming bugs and code changes to identify quality issues and trends
- Provides performance reviews and coaching to help each team member grow personally and professionally
- Participates in recruiting efforts for the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of professional experience
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering, debugging, analysis, and software documentation experience
- Professional experience deploying and supporting a mobile application in a public app store
- 2+ years of experience managing, coaching and growing development teams
- 3+ years of experience with either Android, iOS and/or cross-platform mobile frameworks
- Experience leading agile software development teams
- Advanced development and debugging skills
- Deep knowledge of development patterns on either Android, iOS and/or cross-platform mobile frameworks
- Able to identify proper architectural decisions and follow through on their implementation
- Deep understanding of how a mobile application fits into the larger system's technology stack
- Proven track record of product delivery and effective team building
- Solid understanding of the key components in the life-cycle of shipping software: prioritization, scoping, estimating, developing, testing and QA, documentation, release management, and support
- Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
- Full-stack development experience from front-end to web-services to API design and development
- Demonstrated history of taking on tough challenges and seeing them through to completion
